Still Half Asleep

This little painting is of my son, still half asleep, waiting for his horse to unload so we can go and gather.

  When we do life drawing from a live model, I so enjoy the gesture of the body, and that is part of the attraction for me with painting horses as well.  The challenge of having a good enough drawing that you can feel the weight of the limbs, the twist of ligaments and tendons….the tension and the relaxation that tells more than words ever can.
