This house is one of my favourite sources of bemusement. Whenever I go to Moose Jaw, I see it sitting on a hill above the highway, and I wonder about the women who lived here. What a palace it must’ve seemed to be compared to the sod shack they’d started out in! However, these old frame houses had no insulation or central heating, and this windy hill in the middle of Saskatchewan would not be a fun spot to be in those fierce winters of the 30’s, and the drought, dust and grasshopper plagues of summer. Can you imagine yourself living here in that time and place?

Nice watercolor! Lovely thoughtful post and juxtaposed to my Face Book post about my new bathroom in Taos is sort of fun.
