We grew up with and went to school with the First Nations people at Siksika, and as a teenager, I used to do pastel portraits of some of the elders I knew. I haven’t had the opportunity to do that for years, but last summer when I was at the Calgary Stampede, my friend Don stopped by my booth in his dancing regalia, and agreed to let me take his photo. Don is Cree man from Hobema, working with the youth on his reserve. He’s a strong advocate for the traditional ways of his people, and a wise and gentle inflluence on their lives. SOLD
