Nestled in a beautiful valley in the Cypress Hills, Fort Walsh is the prettiest spot one can imagine, to build a Fort. It must have looked like heaven to those young North West Mounted Police who were sent here, especially after their gruelling trip across the rocky Canadian shield and endless miles of prairie. Established in 1875, it was the headquarters of the NWMP until 1882. Now, beautifully restored and owned by Parks Canada, it’s a destination of a different sort. SOLD
