Those of you who know me know what a struggle I have doing people. And if adults are hard, I find children to be nearly impossible. As a matter of fact I think this is the first watercolour of a baby that I’ve ever attempted! I met Evelyn this week while in Calgary; her grandma, Jan, is my good friend, so I got to spend some time with her. She is so precious and so beautiful that I was motivated to try and paint her. Don’t you just love that sober and contemplative gaze?!

Gena,
Wow, I have to say that this to me is you best human portrait you’ve done so far! You have captured her essence and her cuteness. I went back and viewed all of your human portraits and it is amazing to see your development in less than a year! You are an inspiration to what hard work looks like and the benefits of daily practice look like! Thanks for being a role model to me!
Renee, thankyou so much. Your comments mean so much and yes, I’m starting to feel more confident about my portraits. It was a mental block of some kind I think, and the daily practice as hammered it out! Yay!
