These little guys have been prolific this past 2 or 3 weeks at my feeder. I’ve seen them in the Cypress Hills in summer, but evidently they’re most typically seen here only in winter. A member of the finch family, they’re extremely winter resistant; there are even several arctic sub-species. Anyway, it looks like they all got the memo about wearing a red toque. Maybe that’s the secret to winter resistance! I too need a red toque. Santa!!
