Night Ponies Running

MoNight Ponies Runningre in the spirit of fun, these are the spirit ponies on a starry nightwith the Northern Lights snapping and humming overhead while equine energy zaps and pops all around them. I really love doing these fun little paintings and am thinking I may try them in a larger format.  What d’you think?

Talking Possum

This cat has lost her marbles lately.  After  wakening me  from deep sleeps last night because she figured she wanted to be out rather than in, she then spent the day imposing her will upon me as well! When I try to ignore her, this beseeching look along with loud plaintive wails, soon have me hustling to do her bidding.  Not sure when she stopped being my cat and I started being her bell hop.

Let Me In!!

The weather has warmed up, so this pesky cat is in & out 14 times a day.  If I ignore her, this is the sight at the kitchen window.  Who can evade the intensity of that glare!?
I count my blessings though because it could be worse; my sister had a cat once who would jump straight up in the air and hit the doorbell when she wanted in. That was alright except that she mostly did it around 3 in the morning! At 3 a.m. this one is a snug in bed. Like I say, it could be worse.

Possum Patrol

Here’s this goofy cat, pretending she’s a valuable member of home security around here.  Note the stalking lioness posture and the intensity of purpose. Funny thing is that once the temp goes below zero she seems to think she can conduct her surveillance from the comfort of the kitchen window.

Spirit Pony Sampler

More “Spirit Ponies” today, and this time in a sampler format….just for a change. Who knows where these guys come from or what I’ll wind up doing with them.  They might make a nice children’s book some day.  Meanwhile I hope you enjoy my little paintings from “the edge”.

This one is bigger than most of my dailies …41/2 X 14″ and thus the lowest bid is higher.

Celestial Ponies

Today I felt like playing.  I wanted a herd of running painted ponies, so that’s what I made.  Sometimes my pen & ink pieces have a cartoon-y look to them, especially if I draw them from my head instead of from a reference. I accentuated that with the funky pastel colours and splashy spots. Nothing like a play date for this artist to counter a cool, dull day.

Side Trip

Last week my parents came to stay, and since my dad grew up in the Cypress Hills, he loves to go for a drive out there.  So we did, and it was a golden fall day with the exquisite clear light we’re so blessed with in October (if it’s not snowing!!)
We took a side trip across from north of Elkwater, east to Eagle Butte  on our way home, and there was one stunning hillside after another.  This was one of them. Good thing we went when we did; it looks quite different this week!

Tomato Season

We had our first really hard frost last night, and considering the date, that’s pretty generous of Mother Nature.  Her other recent gift was the fabulous tomato crop we had this year, the last of the fresh ones going into a batch of cabbage rolls for supper last night.
Time and the seasons march on, changes are guaranteed to happen. I guess our job is to rise to each occasion.

Bossy Cow Heaven

Well I nearly went cross-eyed trying to do this drawing.  The reference photo had 6 cows in it and trying to figure out where one spotted cow ended and another began was some fun.  Have you ever noticed in a herd of Holsteins, how individual each of their spot patterns are, and how varied?  Bet you’ll be checking it out from now on, won’t you.
