GMC 9300

This vintage GMC truck has been parked in a driveway in Redcliff for several years, and I’ve enjoyed it’s presence every time I’ve driven by on my way to see Polly, my horse.  If you’ve been paying attention to my blog, you’ll know that I love old trucks. The colour of this one holds a particular fascination for me, and the vintage is early 50’s, which I am really  partial to.  When I zoom in this close though, it’s hard to tell what I’m painting….it becomes an abstract…..you could say I have an abstract attraction., eh?!

Embudo Pumps

Embudo Station is a village right on the Rio Grande River, mid-way between Santa Fe and Taos.  The “Classical Gas Museum” is one of the local attractions there.  Thank goodness for people who treasure our cultural artifacts.  This place is a haven for everything pertaining to 50’s vintage (and older) gas stations.  Don’t these pumps look like a group of people gathered to have a visit.  Lookit that one guy  leaning on his shovel!

GMC for Sale

This cool old truck lives on the route I take to see my horse, and it never fails to entertain. Right now it’s virtually buried in snow, and makes a gorgeous picture that way as well.  I remember having a truck like this when I was just a little kid.  Anybody else out there that old?

Cimarron Truck

Remember me saying how many delights were to be found around Cimarron New Mexico.  Here’s one of them.  How about this truck?   It sits along the fence just on the edge of town, as if waiting for opportunity to come knocking and give it new life.   I wish I could be the one to do that….wouldn’t I just be the cat’s pyjamas riding around in this!?  SOLD

Taos Tow Truck

Time for another truck, doncha think?  This beauty was mouldering in the grass beside a riding arena in Taos New Mexico when I was there a few years ago.  It has a rakish, devil-may-care attitude, with it’s lights on tilt, horns over one eyebrow, and it’s gnarly big tires.  Why don’t they make trucks like they used to?
