Bridle Horse

The young rancher who owns this nice mare has a lot of time and talent invested in her and his gear. He raised and broke her, right through all the stages up to now, when she finally carries the silver spade bit.  He built his saddle and probably braided the rawhide reins as well. A lot of that was in his “spare” time, when not feeding, calving, moving, doctoring, or otherwise tending to his or the neighbours cows.
Resourceful is the first word that comes to mind.
